Behind Foie Gras

Stumble upon this when i was blogwalking during my breaks while working.

Foie gras with mustard seeds and spring onions in duck juice.

So what is FOIE GRAS?

Foie Gras is a food product made of the liver of a duck or goose that has been specially fattened. is the liver of a duck or a goose that has been specially fattened.
*Taken from wikipedia*
Did you know how that liver being 'specially fattened'?

These ducks or geese being FORCE-FED and i can sure you, its not nice at all.

A farm worker grabs each duck and, one by one, thrusts a metal pipe down their throats so that a mixture of corn can be forced directly into their gullets. In just a matter of weeks, the ducks become grossly overweight and their livers expand up to 10 times their normal size.

Im just sicken to know that this practice had been ongoing since the ancient time, around 2500BC.

And its so sad no matter how modern we are now, we still practice cruelty towards animals.

This video shows how human(you, me and them) breed the ducks, force-fed, and slammed the ducks before slaughter it for the livers.

Totally Disgusted.

Aw, i always thought of foie gras as a high couture food and wanted to try it one day. Now i don't think that's a good thing to do >_<

basically all french restaurants serve it. so probably 3 to 5 star hotels also serve foie gras.
