Kek Batik.

my kek batik version.

Main Ingredients:

-Condensed Milk / Susu Junjung
-Cocoa Powder aka Milo/Vico/Typical Cocoa Powder etc. (i use Hershey Unsweetened Cocoa Powder)
-1 block of Anchor Butter (Salted)
-Marie Biscuit cap Ping Pong

I think you guys know the step better than i do! Here's the easy 10 steps to do.

1. Break the biscuits into tiny parts.
2. Start with small fire. Melt 1 block of butter.
3. Pour Susu Junjung /Condensed Milk into it. Mix well.
4. Put a cup of Cocoa Powder. Mix well.
5. Separate about a cup of the mixed ingredients into other bowl. (We'll use it later)
6. Put in the biscuits. Mix well.
7. Turn off the fire. Transfer the mixture into a clean stainless steel tray, layered with plastic/aluminum wrap.
8. Press the mixture to fit into the bottom of the tray.
9. Once compacted, pour the balance of the earlier mixtureon top to serve as topping.
10. Chill in refrigerator and after 1-2 hours, it's ready to consume anytime.

Notes:
-I use 2/3 of the small can - to reduce the sweetness.
-Milo is sweeter than cocoa powder. if you're a sweet tooth person, use Milo.
-If you prefer modest sweetness - use unsweetened cocoa.
-Good butter = more tasty.
-The biscuits determine the taste of the cake. My mom opt for cheese stick biscuits, and the taste is a bit cheesy.
(all of the notes above is base on my personal observation and i may be wrong, so please dont rely 100% on it .heheh).

Little monster that stalks around your house..and your foods.

This evening, I took a pic of the lizards caught at the back of our house...

And when i planned to upload it into my blog, i saw a msg sent by Ping through my FaceBook.

And i saw this...

Scary sh*t!

And this cake was baked by a famous cake shop in Miri, The Hot Cross Bun shop (located in Pelita Commercial Centre). They're famous for their wide cake designs and decorations.
Well, 90% of our family birthday cakes came from there .. -_-"""

Kuih Jala

(Pic from Goggle Search Engine)

This is one of the Iban's famous kuih.
We called it as Roti Jala.

I forgot to write down the ingredients, so i had to goggled up. The ingredients should be something like this:

1kg all-purpose flour
2 eggs
a can of evaporated milk
1 tbsp margarine
1 tsp egg yellow colouring

1 tsp salt
1 litre water oil (to grease pan)

Tools:
-Acuan (Made from a Round can with many tiny holes at the bottom)
-a wooden stick (to 'ketuk-ketuk' the Acuan)
-Wooden Spatula
.:. all these tools are made by grandpa in less than 10 minutes since grandma cant remember where she store the original acuan)

Fill in the Acuan.

'Ketuk-ketuk' the acuan a bit, so it will flow smoothly.

'ketuk-ketuk' process continues to the cooking pan.

Make a round motion, starting from the outer circle, slowly into the center.

After 1-2 rounds, make sure the layer is not too thin (or else it wont be in shape) or too thick.

Slowly lift it up from onside.

And fold it into two.

Press gently at the end of the fold.

This is always the tricky part.
(No need to toss to the other side)

Wait till it turns into golden yellow colour.

Lift it up by poking a thin metal rod.

Drain the remaining oil.

Done!

Since our family is a mixture of Iban and Chinese races, we always made this famous roti jala as one of our 'must have' kuih for Chinese New Year.
:)

Cucumber Story

Grow by itself just right in front of the G.P Cage.

(Comparison with a 50g Nescafe jar)

(Comparison with a spoon)

Surprisingly it bear fruits within 4 days of our absence.
Quite large too compare to our local market cucumber.
(forgot to take the comparison pic. our cucumber is really 'fat' compare to the a bit slim market cucumber).heheh :D

Jungle Fruit?

Dad brought back this fruit on his recent trip from Kampung.
Asked Mom, but she has no idea what is this fruit called.
Dad shrugs but mention this fruit is kinda rare and always sold out at the Kampung's market.
I dont have a habit of trying something new but i was forced to take a bite on it.
Tasted Funny, that was my first thought.
Sweet, abit juicy and smelled like Durian (only its more mild) and the texture feels like rambutan.

Should i call it Duributan? or Ramburian?

XD Sounds stupid to me. haha..
